Oakmont Classic Homes began building custom homes in Fort Worth in 1994. Today, countless happy families in Tarrant County are proud to tell people they live in an Oakmont-built home. It’s been a great ride to the top, but Peter Thomas, president, knows the secret to Oakmont’s success isn’t a secret at all. It’s all about providing extraordinary customer service and a high-quality product.
“This isn’t about making a living; it’s about pursuing a passion. We love what we do, and we put that into every project. We don’t try to squeeze every last dollar out of every deal because that gets in the way of truly serving our customers. We’ve found that when we take care of our customers, everything else falls into place for us.”
Ken Fleming
Operations Director
Oakmont Classic Homes
Ken Fleming grew up in Nebraska with Peter Thomas, where the two developed their interest in building. Ken’s degree in construction from Union College, Nebraska, set the foundation for his career. Ken is responsible for all build-up and exterior work, from pouring the slab to getting a house under roof and the brick and mortar in place.
“I always wanted to build houses, to be working outside. What’s so great about Oakmont is the quality we design and build into our work – these definitely are not cookie cutter homes! We work closely with our customers to get the details right. I’m especially proud of the energy efficiency of our homes; you must not skimp on the energy package. We include low-e windows, radiant barrier roofing and heavy insulation to attack rising utility costs.”
Carrie Burgess
Customer Service Director
Oakmont Classic Homes
When Carrie Burgess and her husband bought a new home near Peter Thomas a few years back, Peter was wowed by the way she finished out the home and decorated it. Then he hired her to do the same thing for Oakmont. She helps Oakmont customers make lifestyle decisions about materials, fixtures and custom modifications that enrich their lives and personalize their homes.
“I’ve always loved new construction, going into new homes to see what people are doing with them. I’m always studying colors, accent pieces, plumbing fixtures, flooring and unique features. Oakmont builds in generous allowances for finish work, which lets our customers nearly always get what they want without breaking the budget. I work with the contractors to make certain every detail inside the house is just the way the customer wants it. We really do build each home as if we’re going to live in it ourselves.”
